About this product
Rare Tea VarietalPure Leaf TeasBrews 50 CupsCertified Organic by QAIOrigin Assam, India Origin Assam, India Assam is highly regarded for producing some of the best black teas in the world. It is one of the largest tea producing region in the world and borders with China, Bangladesh and Burma. Golden Tips - Rare Cultivar A distinct tea plant cultivar known as P-126 (Panetola 126) is is needed to produce the prized golden colored tips. These tips produce a very smooth texture to the brew and give it a distinct character. Only a handful of gardens in Assam have this cultivar.Technique After the newly sprouted leaves have been plucked, they are withered over warm air for a few hours to reduce moisture. Once a suitable suppleness is achieved in the leaves, a delicate rolling of the leaves is performed. The leaves begin to oxidize (change color from green to dark and in this case, with lots of golden tips) and the flavor develops. Finally, the leaves are oven baked.Flavor Profile A very smooth, full-bodied brew with malty, warm, sweet turbinado undertones.
