How our ranking works
A price-comparison service is only useful if you can verify how it ranks. This page is the actual rule set — not marketing copy. If a behaviour on the site ever disagrees with what's written here, that's a bug and we want to know about it via the support page.
1. What we rank on
- Retailer lists are ordered cheapest first, using today's offer price where a promotion is running — never the pre-promo sticker price.
- When every in-stock retailer's delivery costs are on file, we rank on the all-in delivered cost (item + delivery). When any retailer's delivery costs aren't on file, we rank on item price and show delivery per retailer where we do know it — we never assume an unknown delivery cost is £0, and we never punish a retailer for being the one whose costs we know.
- Only in-stock offers are ranked. Out-of-stock retailers are listed separately and never as the “best price”.
- Commission never affects position. We earn a commission from many retailers when you buy through our links — how that works is on How ZepiQ makes money — but the ranking is computed purely from price data.
2. The value figures, as formulas
Every per-unit figure is real arithmetic on real data — a product whose feed data never carried the field shows no figure at all, never an estimate. The “Compare by” switcher on search and product pages uses:
The delivered breakdown on each retailer row goes one step further: delivery is added before the division — delivered per-unit = (item + delivery) ÷ unit count — so a cheap pack with an expensive courier can't hide behind a low unit figure. “Per day” figures use a daily dose that has been reviewed and approved by our team, never an AI guess; products without an approved dose simply don't show one.
3. How fresh the prices are
Every price on the site carries its own check date (“checked 2h ago”, or the exact date once it's older than a day), taken from the moment we actually observed it in the retailer's data feed. We deliberately don't make a blanket “updated daily” claim: retailers are synced on their own schedules and a single claim can't be true for all of them at once. The full list of retailers we track is on the retailers page.
4. Paid placements
Retailers and brands can pay for clearly-labelled sponsored placements in dedicated slots (marked “Sponsored”). A paid placement never appears inside a ranked comparison list, and there is no configuration of our system that can put one there. Paying us does not change a retailer's position by a single place.
5. Affiliate disclosure
ZepiQ is free for shoppers. When you click through to a retailer and buy, that retailer may pay us a commission out of its own marketing budget — it is never added to your price. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. The long-form version, including what happens when we'd earn more from the pricier retailer, is on How ZepiQ makes money.
